Project 4: Ferguson / 6.25 – 6.27
Ms. Ferguson has lived in her home since 2002 after inheriting it from her grandmother, who was the original Habitat for Humanity homeowner. She now shares the home with her five children and says these repairs will allow her family to continue living safely and comfortably in the place that means so much to them. As a single mother who works and attends school full time, the cost of maintaining the home has become overwhelming.
The planned repairs are extensive and include foundation repair, a new roof, HVAC system and ductwork replacement, water heater replacement, bathroom repairs, updated kitchen countertops and cabinets, replacement windows, flooring, doors, lighting, interior and exterior paint. Additional work will address siding, gutters, drywall, insulation, plumbing leaks, and other needed safety and efficiency updates throughout the home.
Ms. Ferguson shared how thankful she is to everyone involved in making these repairs possible. She said the improvements will not only provide a safer and more comfortable home for her and her boys but also allow her to welcome family and friends into her home without feeling embarrassed by its condition. She believes her grandmother would be so happy to see the home receiving the care and repairs it has needed for many years.
