New Construction

Who We Are

Help Build A New Home!

Help us build affordable housing in Oklahoma and nourish your spirit of giving by bringing stability and security to children, families and individuals. We need your help, now more than ever. It takes people like you, who are willing to give a few hours each month or several days a year, to help turn a slab of concrete into a new home for a local family.

Opportunities are available at the construction site and in our carpenter shop.

Volunteers participate in construction Tuesday through Saturday. No construction experience is necessary. You can get involved on a regular basis by becoming a Cornerstone Crew Volunteer, or as your schedule allows.

What We Do

Policy and Guidelines!

Your first job when arriving at the work site is to find the Central Oklahoma Habitat employee in charge of the build. Any questions or problems that arise should be directed to this employee. Also, keep in mind that not all volunteers have the same skills. Each volunteer must recognize his own limitations and stay within them.

We’re all focused on a mission on the job site – building a new home – but, before you put on your hard hat, please review the following safety rules. Remember, this is a construction site.

Volunteer Guidelines for Construction Sites

When you arrive, please fill out the sign-in sheet.

You must complete a waiver prior to the work day or it can be obtained from the site superintendent the day you work.

Wear clothing you won’t mind getting dirty. Check the weather and dress appropriately.

Sturdy, closed-toe shoes are required for your safety. You will not be allowed to work on site in sandals or flip flops.

Work gloves will be provided if you don’t have your own.

Work of this type can be strenuous, especially if you are unaccustomed to physical labor. Please be sure to pace yourself and take breaks when necessary. We recommend that you bring your own filled water bottle, as many of the job sites do not have running water. If you bring tools with you, make sure they are labeled. Tools left on site become property of Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity for all to use. Please clean up before leaving the construction site.
